Ladies Musical Club sponsors an annual solo competition in the late spring for musicians age 20–35 who live or study in one of six Western states.

Awards Tour 2008 winners

The following musicians were selected on June 7 as the 2008 Awards Tour winners:

  • Renée Baldridge, flute
  • Alison Lowell, oboe
  • Thomas Lee, piano
  • Jennifer Caine, violin

Alternate winners:
Kay M. Zavislak, piano
Charissa Barger, harp

2008 finalists included piano (5), flute (2), soprano (2), oboe, classical guitar, bassoon, harp, cello, violin.

About the competition

The LMC Awards Tour competition is open to classical performers of piano, voice, strings and wind instruments. Each year four awards of $2000.00 are presented. In addition, all finalists will receive an award of $200.00 after performing in the live finals of the competition.

Competition winners are presented in recital in Seattle on the day of the finals. In early fall, winners participate in a week-long outreach tour, traveling in Washington state presenting recitals and visiting schools to perform and answer students' questions about music. Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this competition, you must be between the ages of 20 and 35, and be either a resident of or a music student in one of the following states: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, or Montana.
